Tribute to Mavis Brophy, 1942 - 2026
Dedicated to the memory of Mavis Brophy
This page is a tribute to Mavis Brophy, who was born on 3 May 1942. She was a much loved Mum, Grandma, Auntie, sister-in-law and friend, and will always be remembered.
Mum was thoughtful, kind and had a great sense of humour. She had a rich and full life with many interests, including a deep love of the outdoors and an incredible knowledge of flowers, plants and trees. Nature brought Mum so much joy.
Over the last couple of years Mum faced cancer with determination, courage and humour. It never stopped her living life to the full right until the very end.
Mum spent the last eight days of her life at Cynthia Spencer Hospice. In true Mum style, she even managed to redesign the layout of her room so she could look out onto woodland and spring flowers in her final days. Always in charge!
The care she received there was incredibly compassionate and nurturing. Mum commented on the warmth, kindness and even the fun atmosphere in the Hospice, and how wonderful everyone was. It meant she had the most fitting and dignified ending she could have wished for.
She will be deeply missed and will always remain in our hearts.
